Rameshwara means Lord Rama and is one of the incarnations of Hindu god Vishnu and is believed to have prayed to Shiva here. It is believed that the idol of Lord Shiva was brought from Kailash by Hanuman.

Somnath Temple

The historical temple of Somnath is located on the Western Coast of Gujarat is considered as the most significant Jyotirlinga temples in India and gains prestigious position among the Hindus. The temple is dedicated to Someshwara, Lord Shiva with moon on his head.The temple is a witness to several historical incidents and has been ruined by foreign invaders several times.
